Der Produzent von TTC und bei Ed Banger gesignte Mr. Flash ist nun schon seit einigen Jahren sehr erfolgreich in der gehypten Pariser Musiklandschaft unterwegs. Mr Flash gilt als Nu Raver der ersten Stunde und mit der mittlerweile legendären ED001, sprich der ersten ED Banger Platte Radar Rider gab er 2003 den Startschuss für den anschließenden Welterfolgs des französischen Kultlabels.

Unter dem Namen „Monsieur Sexe“ veröffentlichte der „psychopatische Plattensammler“ 2005 eine liebevolle Zusammenstellung von 24 Stücken aus aller Welt, angereichert unter anderem mit Samples aus Pornofilmen, Sexualkundestunden und Fernseh-Jingles.

Aber Mr. Flash blieb nicht untätig und brachte dieses Jahr auf ED Banger "Champions" raus, eine 12" gleich zwei dicken Brettern: "Champions", für das er französischen HipHop Größen TTC verpflichten konnte, ist der absolute Rap Club-Banger wohingegen "Disco Dynamite" dem Songnamen alle Ehre macht: ein SUPER-MAGNETIC-SATURDAY-NIGHT-VIRUS!

 

 

MR FLASH (ED BANGER) - Album Monsieur Sexe

 

Parisian beatmaker (who produces part-time for acclaimed french hip-hop group TTC) Mr. Flash brings us this great CD which is a compilation/mixtape of all things French and sexy. Flash produced three songs on here ("Dirty Bossa Nova," "Lust Island," and the subtly-named "Dildo") and they are lush little groovers with cascading string samples and crispy drums that remind me of classic 90's lounge/downtempo from fellow French beat maestros Mighty Bop or Bang Bang. His new tracks mesh well with the rest of the CD which is kept a mystery. From what I can glean it's a mix of rare psychedelica, soundtracks, French vocal pop and easy listening, funky library records, and probably a good dose of 60's and 70's porn music. There's also some Serge Gainsbourg on there for sure (what would a sexy French compilation be without some flavor from the Pervmeister General himself?) as well as tons of spoken word interludes between tracks which, despite being in French, are for mature audiences only. (we all know what "Oui! Oui!...ooh, oh oui!" means) Everything is rare as hell and kitschy in that 60's/70's French style. I picture a girl in an angular black and white dress, white tights, and black go-go boots sitting with a martini in one of those chairs that's like a hollow sphere with a stand thinking "Por quoi?" while these tracks bang out. Perfect for any soiree where you'd like things to get "interesting" after everyone gets nice and tipsy. Flash only pressed 1000 of these, so if you wanna get down, you gotta get on it.
