ONE WATT SUN

One Watt Sun are the production team behind 2006s’ critically acclaimed ‘The Return of Dr Octagon’, which garnered high praise for it’s originality, production  and monstrous funk.
Likened by Newsweek magazine to a crossbreed of Kraftwerk and Parliament, 'The Return of Dr Octagon' was picked as one of the top 10 releases of 2006 by such diverse sources as Wire Magazine, Paul Thomson (Franz Ferdinand) and Lost at Sea. ‘The Return…’ ejaculated a slew of underground hits, including ‘Aliens’ (which scored single-of-the-week in The Guardian (UK) for it’s ear-popping fusion of swamp-rap and robot-ska) and ‘Trees’, an electro-dancefloor masterpiece which was given 4/5 stars in DJ magazine and a widespread hammering in clubland. One Watt Sun members Simon Walbrook and Ben Green bring their infectious, lawless enthusiasm to their floor-filling Dj/live show,  with all the skill and attention to detail that made ‘The return of Dr Octagon’ so outstanding.
While Simon throws down a traffic jam of chopped, driven grooves Ben frosts it with waves of scratching and samples. ie audience goes bananas.

“This is the most mental thing I’ve heard in awhile…it’s just madness!”,…….IDJ Magazine.

Ben Green: Played turntable for the Deck Collectors with DJ Dexter (formerly of the Avalanches) and drummer Tony Lewis (Arto Lindsay band). He was turntablist and vocalist in the renowned Melbourne dub act, “Hi-pass Filter” from 1997-2002. They toured with Fugazi, and supported everyone from Lee "Scratch" Perry and Mad Professor to Tortoise, Blues Explosion and African Headcharge. He played lead guitar in “Legends of Motorsport” from 2000-2003, touring with acts like the White Stripes, Queens of the Stone age, the Dwarves, the 5,6,7,8’s and Trail of Dead. In 2003 he Co-produced a turntable mash-up of various Chemical Brothers tracks with DJ Dexter as promo for the Chemical Brothers best-of disc 2003.

Simon Walbrook: Simon was half of the live electro act “Two Stroke”.
He’s recorded with various Australian hip hop/turntable and
experimental electronic musicians and toured Australia as the solo act “Short”, supporting Carl Cox and Les Rhythms Digitales. He toured with Australia’s Big Day Out festival and the “What is Music?” festival.
He studied at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology’s Media Arts Music Programme along with members of the Avalanches and Architecture in Helsinki.
He’s been a Resident DJ at many of Melbourne’s clubs including Revolver, Alia, thePunter’s Club, Honky Tonks and the Croft Institute
as well as touring Australia’s major cities.

John Lindland:  Originally from San Francisco, he moved to Amsterdam with a 9 piece band that supported Radio Head, New Order and the Manic Street Preachers. While travelling in Australia in the late 90’s he met Simon and together they began to delve maniacally deeper into electronic production.
