"Brilliant"
GILLES PETERSON (WORLDWIDE, BBC ONE)
“A raw and unique album. I love it from beginning to end"
JUERGEN VON KNOBLAUCH (JAZZANOVA)
„Very cool album! big respect and all that. A soulsearching future fave in the box!“
MICHAEL RÜTTEN
„Ubiquity’s new young gods – perhaps their most commanding act yet - blur the realities of live instrumentation and samples yet further by using one as the other and doing freaky things to Jazz with a dynamism that will leave you breathless. Ultra modern but classic sounding grooves graced with the arresting vocals of Bajka, the new white Esther Phillips.“
FACT Magazine (UK)
„Easily one of the richest musical releases of the new millennium. Berlin Serengeti is one of those rare records with both an immediate impact on the listener and the depth to grow even on the most demanding of palettes (...) The only downside is that this German gem is not out until 12 September. It’s simply not acceptable and I urge you to go to Ubiquity’s website and state your protest.“

„A really enterprising album, marked by imagination and initiative, from the first play it expresses clearly something new and refreshing, a great debut 9/10."
ALAN BROWN, SOUL SEDUCTION, VIENNA
“One of my favorite albums of the year. This sublime blend of melancholic melodies, heavy rhythms and Bajka’s sultry vocals hasn’t left my stereo – and probably won’t.”
EGON, STONES THROW
"Soundtrack for the summer, album of the year"

RADIO CITY: Radio City EP One (Ubiquity Records)
„Ooooh, how delish is this? Radio City is Berlin boy Niko Schabel and his enviable band. Encompassing future funk, old soul, new jazz and dreamy dub into their well-rounded sound, Radio City release this debut 4-track EP and the finished product is pure niceness. On the A are ‘Everything’ and ‘The Prophets’. The former is the EP highlight- sounding like the lovechild of Morcheeba and Portishead, with big bass, bold brass and a scrumptious, smoky vocal from her royal highness of funk, Bajka. The latter is a hectic Giles Peterson-style jazz funker. Bajka returns on the flip with the trippy spoken word of ‘Voices’, while track ‘Mondlicht’ is more mellow than those pink and white fluffy sweets. If you like Ursula Rucker, Massive Attack and Nostalgia 77, you’ll love this. (Out: February 7th) (verdict: delicious and nutritious) 5/5“
BLUES AND SOUL MAGAZINE (SINGLE OF THE FORTNIGHT)
„Four superb tracks showcasing the talent that is Radio City. “Everything” is a heavyweight street Soul tune in which Bajka rips it up in her Jazz/Soul style. In contrast “The Prophets” sounds like classic Strata material. “Voices” is a flute led, spoken word outing and “Mondlicht” is a haunting down tempo Jazz tune. The musicianship is raw, but what they bring is interesting and enlightening“

“Great release, nice to see the ex–Poets Of Rhythm coming back strong. ‘Everything’ is a real beauty. 5/5”
RAINER TRÜBY
“Just what I’m into these days. Bajka’s voice fits perfectly with exotic, ethereal and esoteric jazz styles like that”
GERALD SHORT (JAZZMAN RECORDINGS)
“Heavy, heady, and very good.”
FUTUREBOOGIE
One of the freshest Ubiquity sets we've heard in awhile, the initial 4 tracks from Radio City, done in a mode that recalls the best recent work from the Tru Thoughts label. Radio City is Niko Schabel who's working here in a blend of acoustic jazz and some added beats a mode that recalls recent work by Nostalgia 77 or Quantic, but which also sometimes has the heavier jamming feel of Soil & Pimp.
Bajka turns in soulful vocals on 2 brilliant tracks "Voices" and "Everything" and the other 2 numbers are instrumentals, both done with a really compelling groove.
CLUBBITY.COM
Featuring the sublime voice of Bajka, who voiced the incredible "Tides" (the one with the amazing Carl Craig remix) as well as a recent 7" for Jazzman, this new EP is a smoked out selection of beats and grooves with superb lyrical content.

HVW8 Presents: music is my art CD/LP (Ubiquity Records)
This is probably one of the best compilations of this year, period. While the types of music vary between hip-hop, soul and electronic, the album seems to have a great underlying tone that brings it all together. With a lineup like John Arnold, Rich Medina and Seiji, along with future stars like Black Spade, Radio City and Plantlife, there is nothing but unabridged funk on Music Is My Art

"...But what’s really been on repeat in the TRACE offices is German group Radio City’s groovy, bass-laden “The Hop”. Get these kids in the studio, please! "
TRACE (Transcultural styles and ideas)
WOM MAGAZIN
“Damn, this is good! Montreal visual artists HVW8 curate a collection tighter than Jordache jeans circa '79.”
EYE WEEKLY
"Fusing music and art, HVW8 delivers a political left hook.”

"Built on the spirit of collaboration... the quality don't let up"

"Showcases world-class contenders...zeroing in on next-level electronic, soul and hip hop joints."
MONTREAL MIRROR
„Funkiger, reduzierter, heißer Scheiß ist das, oder auch: A bold but chill taste of tomorrow's yesterday's groove“

“The soft, effortless boom-bap presented in “The Hop” glides alongside reggae-esque guitar plucks and Bajka’s self-assured, street-savvy chant. The grapevine insists that Radio City’s full length will eventually drop on Ubiquity, so keep an eye out. “

“Usually I’ll listen to something while I’m reviewing it, but there was no need with this EP sampler from the upcoming compilation assembled by the HVW8 art ensemble. I’ve been playing every cut since I first got my groove greedy paws on it. It’s the rare bird that lands on your doorstep at exactly the right season, but this is a perfect summer serenade.... and Radio City, who may be from Sweden, follow with a superb downtempo vocal burner over a clever reggae guitar.“
