ARTIST INFO
RED ASTAIRRE aka FREDDIE CRUGER (Tru Thoughts / Raw Fusion)
Old-school b-boy fanatic Fredrik Lager known by all as Freddie Cruger and Red Astaire has been diggin’ breaks since the 80’s, which later got him into producing beats in the early 90’s. Nowadays he’s producing beat weapons flirting with funk, soul, jazz, reggae and hip hop elements under his famous alias Red Astaire but also as Chimney Heads, the Odd Couple or 3 Foot People. Having made a strong impression in the worldwide dj scene with Follow Me, his amazing turn on D’angelo’s Left & Right in 2003, he became since then an in-demand producer and remixer worshiped by headz across the planet. His long time friend Mad Mats had the privilege to release on his Jugglin’ imprint in 2004 2 stunning singles Running From Love and Bap Yo Head / Boogie Down Stureby, both heavily supported by everyone from Gilles Peterson to Jazzy Jeff. Artists such as China Moses, Baz Baz , La Nata, ADL, Swing Fly, Bas 1, Linn, Desmond Foster, Greyboy, Sia and Emo all received Freddie’s magic treatment. Involved since day one in the promising Lars Berger’s hip hop label Swedish Brandy on which he released classics such as the Wonderlust EP last year, Freddie is lauching these days Home Grown, his own label dedicated in priority to his own artistic output. Freddie is back on the 6th release of the respected Jugglin’ label with the double header Something Good/Baddest Motha. Together with reggae vocalist and bass-player Desmond Foster they come thru with two mind-blowing productions. On Something Good, we’re treated to a perfect summer theme with a dope blend of reggae, soul and jazz. But the real club smash is the b-boy and Latino infected breakbeat nugget Baddest Motha that we guarantee will burn up the clubs on a worldwide scale. Imagine Jimmy Castor ‘s Its Just Begun but with a Cuban-funk twist and you’re halfway there. But as if this what enough we also let Tru Thoughts recording artist Diesler take on the classic Freddie Cruger track The Hustle who turned up the tempo and energy on full gage. Believe us when we say that this will mash up things...
